CORPORATE NOOSE

About

A deliberately unflattering name.

Corporate Noose is an AI development practice. The name is a comment on what the industry is currently doing to itself — enormous spend, enormous claims, and a thin layer of working software underneath it all.

Position

Why we exist

There is currently more money in explaining AI than in building it. That has produced a consulting market optimised for the artefacts that justify the spend — strategies, frameworks, maturity models, roadmaps — rather than for systems that run on a Tuesday morning and process real work.

We do the other thing. We write the software, wire it into the systems your business already depends on, measure whether it is actually good, and hand it to your engineers with the documentation they need to own it.

That means we are a poor choice if you need a supplier who will agree with the plan. We will tell you when the data isn't there, when the success criteria are unmeasurable, and when a database query would beat a language model — because those conversations are much cheaper now than in month six.

If the honest answer is "don't build this", that is the answer you'll get — in the first conversation, before you've spent anything.

HOW WE'RE SET UP

Small and senior by design

  • The people who scope the work are the people who build it
  • No account management layer between you and the engineers
  • A small number of engagements at a time, run properly
  • Stockholm-based, working across European and UK time zones

Beliefs

What we think is true

Opinions we hold strongly enough to turn down work over. You may disagree — better to find that out on this page than in week four.

01

The model is the easy part

Frontier models are extraordinarily capable and getting cheaper. Almost every failed AI project failed on data access, permissions, integration or evaluation — not on model capability.

02

Unmeasured is unfinished

A system nobody can score is a system nobody can improve, defend to a regulator, or safely change. Evaluation is not a phase at the end; it is the first thing built.

03

Autonomy is a cost, not a feature

Every degree of agency you add makes a system harder to predict, test and trust. Add it where the problem genuinely demands it and nowhere else.

04

Boring architecture wins

Queues, caches, state machines, retries and idempotency keys. AI systems fail in production for the same unglamorous reasons every other distributed system does.

05

Users decide, not sponsors

The people doing the work today will route around anything that makes their job worse. Design with them in the room or watch adoption quietly fail after launch.

06

Lock-in is a design failure

Your code, your cloud, your model accounts, documented for your team. A consultancy that makes itself impossible to leave has stopped being aligned with its client.

Working with us

Who we take on

Scale-ups

Where a process that worked at the previous headcount is now the constraint, and the engineering team has no capacity to take it on.

Established mid-market

Where there is genuine operational volume, real data history, and a board that has approved an AI budget without a clear plan for it.

Regulated sectors

Where auditability, permission boundaries and abstention matter more than raw capability, and most vendors' demos fall apart on contact with compliance.

Teams mid-rescue

Where something is already live, quality is unpredictable, and the immediate need is measurement rather than more features.

The entity

Next step

Start with a straight conversation.

Thirty minutes, no deck, no discovery invoice. Tell us what isn't shipping and we'll tell you what we'd do about it — including if the answer is nothing.
